Oliver,

This is because Java 3D does not sort transparent objects based on
transparency. That should be coming in Java 3D 1.3. If you search the
archives for transparency issues you will see many posts on this problem.

Sincerely,

Daniel Selman

Subject: still problems with transparent Objects and Text2d

Hi

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago. If there was no answer
because this is a well-known problem without a solution, sorry, but
I am not sure if this a zBuffer Problem or anything else.

The combination Text2D (in a seperate Branchgroup) in front of or
behind a transparent geometry behaves very strange on my combination
(linux XFree86-4.03, geforce mx, nvidia driver 1, java3d 1.2.1).
Sometimes a Text2D behind the shape looks correct sometimes it
looks as if it were in front of the shape. The same happens with text
in front of a transparent shape. Since this happens only with Text2D
I am not sure if this is really a zBuffer problem.

Does anybody have a suggestion how to solve this problem? Or, if it is
a bug, I would like to hear that, too, since I havent found a solution
in the archive or in the bug list.

Thanks, Oliver
