Ive actually just discovered the error im making may not be associated with
the location of the portfolio.jar file.
At present Im just trying to load in any-old thing that ive got off of the
web just to see if i can do it. Ive changed the .wrl file and the error goes
away!! I thought it may have been something to do with the associated files
that need to be in the same directory as the .wrl file, however removing
these does not re-produce the error.
I do feel that the error message is a tad misleading if it is infact a
corrupt .wrl file thats to blame rather than java not finding classes. (as
the error message suggests....)

Ill move on from here.

Thanks for your help, Ill check out these other loaders you have suggested
as well....

and thanks heaps also to Gregory Pierce for your efforts.
