Hey folks,
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a 3DS loader? I'm
aware of the loaders available from the j3d.org links page, but I'm not sure
what makes one better than the other.
What do people think of the StarFire loader vs the NCSA?
Also, has anyone got a driver for an Spaceball 2003 (Spacetec Technologies).
Pretty old skool I know, but it's the only thing I've got to play around
with at the mo.
Out of all the VR rendering software (WTK - WorldUp, VRJuggler, Maverik and
Java3D) what is the best approach to take, primarily, Java3D vs WorldToolKit
(+- WorlUp GUI). At first I was unsure about Java3D's capabilities with VR
hardware, but the more I look into, the better it seems. Has anyone got a
Java3D set-up that involves an HMD, Tracker (pref FasTrak) and a SpaceStick
or Magellan? If so, what is the performance rate like? Can you use
StereoEyes (the budget CrystalEyes) with Java3D easily, or will involve some
form of driver?
Finally, does Java3D support networking, i.e. harness the power of several
computers networked together to render more complex scenes, especially if
you require a fully immersive VR setup?
If you think you have seom advice on any matters relating to this, then it
would be great to hear from you.
Thanks you for time guys, see ya in the Virtual.

p.s. I'm doing a degree in Artificial Intelligence. Has anyone got access to
some AI code for a 3D environment written in Java out of interest?
