I have guy that has promised 3000 and probably 4000 drivers for the
spaceball for the j3d.org repository. He's been away for the past couple
of months and is due back some time about now. I've seen the 3000 code
(IIRC) so its there. A lot of cleanup work needs to be done to make it
more suitable for a generalised library.

I believe that's what Steve at NCSA was doing quite regularly so it
seems to work. You might have a dig around in the Portfolio stuff for
some hidden goodies that might allow this to work.

No. It will work only on a single machine where you have genlock
capabilities to sync the refreshes on multiple screens. Larger systems
aren't really supported (We've been trying to bend j3d to run an Elumens
Dome for example).
