I'll be posting a tutorial on how to work with 3D
sound shortly. Currently, I believe I've found a few
bugs in the API and am talking to a Sun engineer about
them. Because SIGGRAPH is this week, he won't have
time to research my issues until sometime next week.
After I'm sure about the state of these issues, I'll
post my tutorial at j3d.org.
Until then, you're welcome to look at my first draft
of a 3D Sound demo. You can download the JAR (source
bundled into it) from
http://www.geocities.com/corysia/RainDance.jar
The problems you may notice with this demo are:
1) On Win32 boxes, you will get the message "Sound
bank not set" in the console window.
2) The positioning of the PointSound objects (the
thunder) doesn't seem to be working.
Neither of these problems should stop you from
learning how to use a BackgroundSound object from my
demo.
