Christian: Other folks have had problems with this, and it is related to mixing "Lightweight" Swing components with the Canvas3d, which is a heavyweight component. Look back in the archive (I saw some under the heading "Canvas3D not honoring layering" on March 20 of this year). There are several suggestions that will fix you right up. You would probably also want to check out a topic that is something like "Interoperating with Swing" j3d.org.
