If you want something 'real' you might want to check out new j3dfly and j3deditor from sun http://java3d.netbeans.org/ I decided to stay with my own creation mainly because of size. But if you plan something large, I think you can find j3deditor quite useful. It does not require netbeans - it works perfectly standalone (in fact I have never run it under netbeans).
