Frank, I've had this same problem with various web browsers for the past year, and no one seems interested in taking responsibility for fixing (or consistantly acknowledging that there is a problem). Using Java 3D in applets consistantly crashes and hangs both browsers and Windows when the applet is closed.
In the absence of a fix, I don't use Java 3D in applets anymore. I can't risk wedging my customer's web browsers and forcing them to hard reset their machines. -- John Frank Oellien wrote: > Hello, > > I have created an applet for information visualization. > However, it seems that there are problems during stoping or destroying > the applet, e.g. pressing the reload button of the browser. > > When the page will be reloaded the Java console shows an > java.lang.InterruptedException > and the following message > java.lang.NullPointerException > at sun.awt.SunToolkit.postEvent(Unknown Source) > at sun.awt.windows.WComponentPeer.postEvent(Unknown Source) > at sun.awt.windows.WComponentPeer.handleExpose(Unknown Source) > at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.eventLoop(Native Method) > at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.run(Unknown Source) > at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) > > Is it possible that some Java3D behaviors will not be stoped when the > applet is stopping? > > You will find the applet demo page under the following URL > http://www2.chemie.uni-erlangen.de/services/infvis/index.html > (size: ~ 220 kb) > > With regards > > Frank Oellien > > -- > Computer-Chemie-Centrum and Institute of Organic Chemistry > University of Erlangen-Nuremberg > Naegelsbachstrasse 25, D-91052 Erlangen (Germany) > Tel (+49)-(0)9131-85-26579 Fax (+49)-(0)9131-85-26566 > email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > WWW : http://www2.chemie.uni-erlangen.de/oellien/ > http://www2.chemie.uni-erlangen.de/ChemVis/ > > =========================================================================== > To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body > of the message "signoff JAVA3D-INTEREST".
