Thank you all for your help. Finally, I have found out the reason that leads to my problems. Some of my instances have been created as static (some also as static final) instances - my universe, my view, my display etc. That was ok when running the program as an application. However when I reload the applet version in my browser, the applet crashes with exceptions. Now I create everytime a new instance in the init() body.
The 2 java.langInterruptedException still exists, but they seem not to have an effect. However I have already detected one of the components that are responsible for this.
