This is intended behavior. Consider the platform geometry to be
'the avatar itself' or say 'the car, the avatar is sitting in'.

Mark Hood told you similar in an earlier mail already and hinted
you to org.j3d.geom.overlay. If you are using that already, I'm
not really sure, but believe to remember, that J3D beta2 has some
feature to assign scene parts to views ... sorry, have to look that
up again.
