Good news, Jean-Robert! I recomend OpenGL. Java3D Direct3D needs DirectX 8.1 or higher, and it means ~32mb of download, if not already installed. And some old video cards becames very slow with current DirectX 9b. And Java3D OpenGL will use, at least, the default OpenGL 1.1 present in all Windows releases.
