you think about the j3d-jre ? yes, ok, you can go that way.

the browser doesn't care about the j3d-jre, it only needs the right jvm.

no, these are installed with the j3d-jre.

OpenGL. It works on all supported platforms.

Search the archives of this list for "Web start". If "Web start" is installed
and working you can install the important parts of j3d-jre on-the-fly without
bothering the user to much. The user only installes the jvm and "web start",
which can/are bundled anyway.

The tricky part is getting support for Mac, as the native-code for j3d is a
bit protected.
