Are you aware that most of the existing commercial EAI implementations are still dependent on the old MS JVM and won't work with the Sun JVM?
The MS JVM dependency introduces additional problems, so not only do you have to consider which vrml plugin the client is using (because each plugin and EAI implementation tends to behave differently) you also have to consider which jvm, if any, is installed and, if it is, will an applet talk to the vrml plugin over the EAI... I wouldn't advise anyone to use the vrml eai in a commercial product and I think its still far too early to know if the new version of the eai incorportated in the X3D specs ( its now called the Scene Access Interface SAI) is going to be a success. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Franck Calzada" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 2004 1:51 PM Subject: Re: [JAVA3D] java3d and EAI > Thanks a lot Jonathan, > > I'll check it out. > I'm surprised that a technology didn't emerge to handle this kind of needs. > > My goal is to create a virtual mall using VRML and Weblogic Application > server > I wanted to use VRML because of number of VRML browser that already exist.
