Thanks Franck, The immediate mode approach works pretty well for the effects that I am trying to achieve. It is actually an interactive function that draws a polygon on top of Canvas3D through mouse click.
I will use 2D overlay to implement the same function and see how it works compared with the immediate mode approach.
