Hey Gang,

Before I start, yes, I know all about the Loaders Archive...

My problem is this: despite all of the available loaders out there, none
of them do loading properly. They either lack support for textures, and
materials, or are quite brittle and prone to breakage. The only one that
I've found that is quite good is the VRML 97 loader...fast, and read
materials, etc.

However, I'm not sure if this is a trait of VRML, but it seems that an
object's size get normalized somehow. As in, I use several
different files and assemble my model from these individual objects using
offsets (this is for robotics, if you're interested). My models are 1:1
scale, and therefore so are my rotation and translation offsets. However,
I end up with with smaller models offset by the true-to-life offsets.
Annoying. Is this expected, or can this functionality be turned off. Is
it perhaps something the tools I'm using to produce the VRML is doing?

As for other loaders, are there any robust loaders other than VRML that
don't do any funny resizing, or offsetting of the axes (some loaders set
the axes to the center of the object, instead of their original position)?

Brendon
