I ran java posse 227 through the sox tool's tempo filter to speed it up by 20% without changing the pitch (in laymans terms: no chipmunks!)
It sounds pretty good to me. It could be faster but speeding it up much more would require a lot of focus to pick up everything. Shaves the time from 1h 27 to 1h 13 - so that's a full 15 minutes saved. Unfortunately the size of the podcast doesn't change much (mostly because due to the speedup, you need more bitrate) - just 1 MB saved off of the 61MB of the original. It did take my older home server a full hour to decode the mp3, tempo it, and recode it. I also still need to figure out a way to re-add all the id3 stuff into the final result. Right now its just a blank mp3 file, no notes, no picture, no name. Anyone got some bandwidth left over? I can script automatic uploads + run the RSS feed, as long as someone else hosts the files. Could be a solution for Dick's repeated failed attempts to put the posse episodes on a diet. I like em fullsize, so perhaps this is a good enough reason not to cut into the discussions. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
