I am curious, was the lack of support for linux and OpenSolaris a 'taboo' subject for your interview posted on the 10th?
If not, why was it not brought up? It strikes me as odd that the most recent statement from a Sun site on linux and OpenSolaris support is the blog post of December 4, 2008 mentioning the lack of support and the reasons for it. So, two months with no word. Now a new release.... JavaFX 1.1..... no word. A great interview including questions like, 'what would you say to developers of Silverlight and Flash to get them to switch to JavaFX?', but not a word for linux developers. So, Java Posse, why not a single mention? For some languages the lack of support for open platforms would be of little note, but this is JAVA! I would argue that one reason Java developers develop in Java is because it is a multi-platform language. This, in my view, makes it noteworthy that there has been a lack of support and a lack of engagement with the open platform communities. Now JavaFX mobile is out... but not for Android I would guess. No, that would be support for a linux platform. <sigh> Help us out guys, next time you sit down with a Sun JavaFX developer, ask them about open systems support. thanks. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
