Speaking as a intelliJ user (for scala), past and present eclipse
user, emacs and netbeans for ruby user - the nice thing that intelliJ
does is that it doesn't seem to have a project "type" so much as a
"facet" that is detected or added - so it seems in their design that
the facets must not expect to "take control" and stop other ones from
working...
