But RoR and the ruby community deserve most of that derision. Let's
cover some facts:

1) While pythonistas are dyed in the wool java bashers, they at least
tend to put in a smidge of tact when they go about their ways. Ruby
fanboys almost invariably /flip the heck out/ when talking about java.
Completely off the rails (hahah! I made a funny!)

2) Ruby doesn't really have a language spec. It's a patchy mess. Some
people love it. The people who like java usually prefer everything
defined very carefully (as a slapdash 'we'll see where this takes us'
kind of thing just isn't done in the java community, so the people who
like that aren't in the java community any more). I feel its perfectly
normal to heap some derision on ruby for it.

3) Read any of many blog articles by Zed Shaw about the deplorable
state of the ruby community.

4) Go find either a job working with Ruby / RoR, or try to find a good
Ruby / RoR programmer. Now do the same with Python / Django. World of
difference. Of course, if this ruby/RoR bashing takes hold, that will
end. Popularity isn't _always_ a good thing :P
