OK, I think we are using two different definitions of "being dead".

I consider a project as dead if no more critical security holes are
fixed, as well as being widely in use.

I think, you consider a project as dead if no essential new things are
developed.

But Swing is mature. Of course there could be improvements undertaken
- no doubt - but what big new thing do you expect or desire?
