Culturally, Sun and Oracle are (were?) a lot different. I've always
heard Sun described as an engineering-driven company, closer to an
academic place where people do can do their pet projects with little
regard to the bottom line. Oracle, on the other hand, is much more
focused on the business side, very competitive, and generally doesn't
invent / build new stuff (outside their core database area) - they
just buy technology when they need it. So it's easy to imagine how
some Sun people don't feel at home. Sadly, the current economy helps
Oracle retain Sun people.
