To be honest, Max OS is a little difficult to use for any new comer. The
difficulty in getting Java for Mac was a real headache , not to forget the
hardware..On the other side, the UI experience and some other fantastic
features is excellent..Windows is nowhere near that..I frankly feel Windows
is not for development, but onlty for home use..For development, use
Linux..Mac needs some refreshments before getting to the level of Linux..

Java is platform-independent and yet we need a different installation for
Mac OS..Clearly, we need to think of Windows and Linux for development
work..

In my opinion, we need to understand our cons and pros before commiting to
any of these ladies (I mean the OS systems :).. pun intended) here..You need
to understand what they can offer and their specifications, and then find a
good match of our requirements. Then you decide which platform is best for
your work.

Is it opossible that being open source has made Linux become more acceptable
to developers and scientists for their work?

I hope I got the correct message through..:)..

Jitesh Dundas
