Remember, there exists the following:
Perl Foundation
Python Foundation
Linux Foundation
Apache Foundation


All of which are supported by grass roots and corporate efforts (but
are not controlled by a single corporation).

Google and other companies would support this foundation due to their
dependance on Java.

Google, Microsoft and HP all currently support the Apache foundation.
