I'd agree if not for the fact that you used the qualifier "good".
Many of the Java developers out there really are no good.
A good developer wouldn't have that much of a learning curve for new
languages because chances are they have already dabbled in a few of
them.  You can probably cut out many of the generic "I read a Java for
Dummies" developers just by requiring a less common language in your
job posting.  Besides, there is always a learning curve in a system;
learning the intricities of the system itself.  You are not going to
significantly cut down on the learning curve just by using a common
language, especially if that language ends up adding to the system's
complexity itself.
