I don't think it's all that bad. It's true that you can see studdering when the content resolution is too high (lack of resources for downscaling?), but for websites and most casual video I run into, it isn't a problem. I don't have any fancy video camera and my memcoder skills are limited, but this is my N1 running some random BBC video: http://82.103.135.236/resampled.avi
The flash sites posted by Steven works fine as well, except for when flash support fails to be detected (but that is a separate issue). Do I think Flash and the whole container plugin model is passé? Sure... but that doesn't mean it isn't nice to be able to enjoy the content that's IS there today.
