The question of change of locale. It is typical for users to change their local in the middle of using an application? Is it typical for all applications to immediately take into account the change of locale without first having to be restarted? If the locale change event is part of the native Windows platform it would only be viable to support this in Java if all supported Java platforms had equivalent events. This is basically what is happening in the case of file system listener events finally being supported in Java...at least when Java 7 finally comes out.
