Oh, I forgot to mention: traditional java swing has more or less abandoned the idea of native OS look too, hasn't it? I mean, nimbus is not the default only because of the Holy Grail of backwards compatibility (Oracle explicitly recommends you should configure all your swing apps to use nimbus), and as far as I know, Nimbus looks more or less the same on all platforms, and very much NOT like the underlying OS chrome.
