You could make that argument about any other significant part of the
JRE package. Should any JRE installation support CORBA? I don't think
so. It is an issue of modularization over and over again.

I think JRE could be provided in a more light-weight configuration
with the ability to download and install additional components as
needed. That should be a fair compromise between JRE size and
compatibility.
