Don't get me wrong, this TSA stunt is more pointless security theatre
and laughably absurd, no other words for it*, however, I'm appalled
that it takes some TSA agents to cop a feel for the US citizenry to
throw such a hissy fit. Starting a war under false pretenses,
suspending habeas corpus, massive illicit surveillance, extending a
giant middle finger to all those helping to clean up the aftermath of
9/11 *AND* all recent military veterans (crappy healthcare and re-
integration) and soldiers (stop-loss and friends), Katrina, and a
fourth estate that is falling to pieces - ALL THAT was evidently less
important than this?!? The heck? Compared to all that, getting your
balls groped at the gate is a bad joke.

*) There's a price on one human life year. It's called a QALY (quality-
adjusted life year). Going rate is something like $50,000 or so.
Factor in the economic damage caused by the TSA controls, the cost of
running the security operation, and the damage done by those X-Rays
(tiny, but it adds up over that many passengers), and the fact that
gate security catches very little terrorism, and you're looking at a
price per QALY of hundreds of millions. Hence TSA security theatre =
mathematically stupid.
