It's well accepted that the Nazi's caught the German Reichstags on fire and framed a hapless communist as the scapegoat. They fanned the paranoia and outrage of the German public into enabling their take- over of the German democratic government. They very quickly went about establishing a highly controlled police state over the next few years. In the same vein, the false flag incident of 9-11 has been used to create Home Land Security, TSA, the Patriot Act, holding prisoners indefinitely without charge or access to legal counsel, and of course the use of water board torture (which the US also used in the Filopino pacification by presidential decree - the army even had a marching song based on water boarding the Filopinos, which too were dehumanized).
