The phrasing of this question makes it sound as if playing video games and
watching a movie are not productive pursuits.

Either of these activities can be quite productive in various ways provided
they are all consumed in moderation and balanced with other activities.

Personally, I find the act of "just having fun" quite productive in the
sense that it makes me happy and more able to tackle other less enjoyable
tasks.
