I'm totally fine with them deciding the cut they want from the transaction.
30% might be high but it might still benefit both parties.

What I find questionable is that they won't allow vendors to increase the
price of their merchandise in the Apple store in order to offset these costs
(passing them to the buyer).

Basically, if you want to sell on the Apple store, you will be making 30%
less money than when you sell in other places.

The market will tell if it was a wise move by Apple. If in a few weeks, you
hear that the 30% figure is being decreased *or* that they are relaxing the
pricing restriction, then we will know it was a stupid decision.
