Yeah, that was stupid. That lady from Samsung (not the CEO) on the
earnings call was widely misquoted as saying sales were "quite small"
first where she actually said sales were "quite smooth" (http://
www.androidcentral.com/galaxy-tab-sales-are-quite-smooth-not-quite-small).

Steve's prediction from the October earnings call (Tab wouldn't sell
well, they would switch to 10 inch) still came true: Samsung didn't
give a number of how many were purchased by end users (and not
returned), admitting that "sell-out wasn’t as fast as we expected",
and just gave "sold to retailers" numbers. Of course Samsung knows how
many Tabs were bought by end users - they just don't like the number
and don't report it, so they used the other number. Just like
Microsoft ("two million Windows Phone 7 phones shipped to retailers in
2010") who couldn't stop boasting about how many Kinects people
bought, however (I think 9 million was the last number I heard). Or
Verizon iPhone sales - total silence after announcing that more
iPhones were pre-ordered between 3 am and 5 am than on any first day
launch in Verizon's history.

And the next Tab is the Galaxy Tab 10.1, with the screen size matching
its name.
