Yes, I was a bit puzzled by that as well. Scala is much more "joined at the
hip" with XML because of its support for XML literals, but I don't see
anything intrinsic to Java that makes it tied to XML.

Another thing that puzzles me about Ceylon is the timing: Gavin says that he
and his team have been working on it for two years and yet they don't even
have a prototype to show. Reaching such a stage should take a few months to
one programmer.
