Hi Vince,

Installing software on Mac is usually pretty straightforward, either drag
the .app in your /Application folder (or a subfolder) or run the installer
if there is one.

However, you are correct that Eclipse is an exception and I usually resort
to manual installing for it. I create /Applications/Eclipse-Indigo-blahblah,
cd there, untar in that directory and then I move eclipse/Eclipse.app into
the Dock.
