i'm saying benefits don't outweigh the costs.  if you own the RSA
patent, of course there is value in that.  but all the litigation
around ridiculous patents (in app purchase.   really?)

the small guy can't afford to enforce his patent anyway, so any value
will be realized by big companies.

then there is the "value" realized by the lawyers.  I can't argue with
you there - they have a lot of reason$ to love patents.
