A large problem with this perspective is it assumes that it was only
through disclosure that competition could have been presented.  Do you
have to know all of the math behind how Apple did 'pinch to zoom" to
be able to implement it yourself?  I'm not talking about the physical
aspects of the multi touch display.  Just the software that receives
two touch points and uses interaction between them to scale an image.
