I second ThinkingRock - it is very solid. Also, while there is a subscription service for new versions you aren't required to buy it and I'm pretty sure that your current version (if you are happy with it) never expires.
The only downside is that it takes some getting used to, as it is very GTD-centric. If you don't use GTD then it will seem confusing and confining. Since I do I frankly love the app. It is build on Netbeans Platform when using a PC.
