How to see if the conversation view is checked, and then uncheck it.

1.  From the message list, hit alt+v to get io the Current View Submenu.

2.  Hit right-arrow key to get into that submenu.  

3.  Up-arrow.  You should have highlighted, "view messages by conversation".

4.  If it also says "checked", uncheck it by hitting enter.  (This is a 
toggle.)
