I realize you mean well with your suggestion, but I personally find the idea
of having to scan a sheet of paper unacceptable.  The OCR applications are
not sufficiently accurate that I would ever consider tracking any of my
financial accounts via scanning.  The banks have those records in electronic
format, that's how they generate all those reports and statements.  There's
no sound reason that those records should be made available in that format.

In fact, M&I Bank (upper Midwest) offers a link on the web page that allows
customers to download the statement records in several different formats
including an Excel CSV as well as Quicken and MS Money formats.
