Hi Rick, I have been watching this thread with great interest as I am attempting to buy a new computer and am a current JAWS 8 user with XP professional. Del won't sell me a desk top computer with XP unless I'm willing to pay an additional $500, all of their "great deals" have Vista on them. They were rather obnoxious about it and said that Microsoft will soon not support XP. I explained my issue with adaptive software but they didn't much care. Nock on wood, I'm very pleased with JAWS 8 and don't want to go the Vista route right now. I'm sorry if this question is "off topic" but any suggestion of how I can get XP on a new computer so I can run my current version of JAWS without upgrading? Also, if I should go to Vista anything I should be aware of?

Most manufacturers are shipping their systems with Vista, but XP can still be had. If you do get XP installed, make sure they give you the original operating system disk, because you will be paying for it. Keep in mind, that if you do get XP, make sure it is a version that your version of Jaws will support. If you get XP Professional, or Media Center Edition, you will need Jaws Pro.
