Are you absolutely sure that you do not have a Windows key and an applications key. I'm using an 88 key keyboard on my Del and I have both keys. I do know that the IBM laptop does not have a Windows key, but I think I remember a discussion not to long ago on how to deal with this. Sorry to say, that I did not pay much attention to that subject line.
Have you tried investigating your keyboard with the JAWS Keyboard Help command? Use Insert 1 (that is the number 1 on the number row) to turn on keyboard help. Now you can press keys and hear what they are. When you press the application key, JAWS will announce application. When you press the Windows key, JAWS will not say anything. However, when you find a key that does not say anything, just combine it with another key like the letter "M". In this case you would hear JAWS say Windows M. To get out of Keyboard help, just repeat the Insert+1 command.
