Hi, IF this is a problem in Word or by extension Microsoft Outlook where the Word editor option is used, not Outlook Express, I believe it may have something to do with Smart Quotes.
I notice that some people where I work have this, a symbol which looks like the apostrophe is used. On my equipment though it is spoken as the = (equals) sign. It doesn't always turn up like that but in the name 'Mara it will speak O=Mara. Some other situations it does not. I don't understand the purpose for smart quotes or many of the other features Word sets on as default. Anyway, maybe this will help you track down the problem. As someone else mentioned, there is probably a symbol there but not one Jaws knows the name for.
