HI Kerry and Ann.  Ann, your post just jogged my memory a bit.  I had that 
very problem with the Toshiba.  The 2 somethings are 2 copies of the video 
controller in Device Manager.  What happened to me was that when I tried to 
change settings in the display properties, JAWS would die.  The man at FS 
talked me through deleting the second copy of the video controller, and it 
was smooth sailing from there.
