Hi, well if you're happy with AVG then that's fine for all of us, however I've been using Avast! since, well, the beginning of this month, and it's not screwed up my system one bit, so perhaps it was a very early version that's caused this to happen on your PC, or it could be that particular machine. My theory is, just because a programme screws up one machine doesn't mean it will screw up another. I therefore suggest you give it another try, and if it does screw up your system you've always got System Restore as a last resort. I hope this helps.
