You should download the latest build. It is winamp v 5.666. Go to winamp.com and you will still find a link to it, if I'm not mistaken. The programme was installed on my PC by the guy who built it, but he made some kind of mistake and the programme was not able to save its settings until I changed some of the permission settings. However, I have since had to reinstall the programme and never had any such issues again. Just make sure you are an administrator when you install. There should not be any other applications installed on your pC with the official install package. Just install and proceed as normal. You will be better off nowadays setting default programmes in windows 10 itself rather than trying to get winamp to do this for you. When the computer asks you to choose a programme to play a certain type of file, choose winamp from the list and check the box which says 'always do this", if that's what you want. I have noticed that for some reason windows 10 likes to minimise winamp frequently.
