Usually, I have to re-start it by either going to the desktop and pressing J
for JAWS, or I use the combinations Control Alt J. It is hit and miss as to
which one wants to work. Thanks.

It sounds like the soundcard is working properly. Sometimes JAWS just
crashes. You've tried reloading it? What happens then?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Sound Card Diagnostics Question
Evening all.
I have a Dell laptop, and periodically, JAWS will stop speaking. I can get
other sounds, i.e. the tone when a usb device is unplugged, etc. I am
uncertain as to whether it is my software, or my sound card. If it is my
jaws program, or my sound card, but Can anyone tell me if there is a way to
run a diagnostics on either one? I am using JAWS 17, on a Dell laptop, with
Windows 10. Thanks in advance.
Jerry
