Hi Ann Marie,

If you press number 5 on the number pad three times quickly when number lock
is off you get a numeric code for the current character. The code given is
13. However, you actually need to use 013. The 13 is the code initially
used as a carriage return. If you turn the number lock on, hold down Alt
and type 13 on the number pad followed by a space, you will likely get an
8th note. (♪). Instead you turn on the number lock, hold down Alt while
typing 013 and you get the paragraph mark.

If using 013 in a Find and Replace dialog box in Word you would need to put
a caret (shift on 6) before the numbers. However, using caret followed by a
lower case p does the same thing.

Take care.

Brian how did you figure out that it was a paragraph marker? Is there a
place I can find the paragraph or tab equivalent. Maybe hexadecimal is not
the way to go.

Brian,
As always thank you. I tried to find these values. How did you know that
it is a paragraph mark?
I did find that Notepad has a hex converter but had no idea how to add on
this plug in.

Hi Ann Marie,

The character at the end of each line except the bottom line is a paragraph
mark. To replace it in Word you can use a caret (shift key with 6) followed
by a lower case p. In the Replace With box you can use caret mark followed
immediately by a lower case t. Use the Replace all to replace all paragraph
marks with tabs.

If there is more text in the document you might want to first select what
you want to replace before using the Replace dialog box.

If you copy the text with the paragraph marks each word will go on a
separate row in a column when pasted in Excel. If you have tabs instead of
the paragraph marks then text will be placed in cells of the same row.

Take care.

Below is data from a web site. After each word Jaws announces a blank. I
have no idea what this blank character is. I want to copy data from web
site save as word document. Then control h to replace blank with a tab. If
blank changed to tab I can easily read info in Excel.
Does anyone know how to identify this blank character?
Last character after the word place is blank.
Copy data from web site:
Place
Bow
Name
Raw
+/-
Adjusted
Group
