Hi JM,

Yes, it is a Windows / Office command, & it's called, Extended Selection
Mode, at least that's what it's called in Office Word 2010. You press the
F8 key to toggle through the various options, pressing enter on the 1 you
want. If it doesn't speak you won't know which option to press enter on,
unless you've got the key presses memorized, & know which 1 to press enter
on. Someone that has had this command fail would have to explain what
happens when it fails / quits working. I always select text with
keystrokes, & rarely use the F keys options, so I've never had it fail for
me.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Hm. But ... it's a Word/office command, not a jAWS one right? So, if it
doesn't speak ... it's still actually working. Or am I wrong?

All select commands are wonderful, but that one specifically for a sentence
was, and still is when JAWS isn't tired and cranky, the best.

Hi Adrian,

I guess you could always go old school keystrokes.

Selecting from the beginning of the line to the end:
Shift + End / 1 on the NumPad.

Selecting more than 1 line of text, if the sentence is more than 1 line:
Hold the Shift key down while arrowing up or down until you have
selected/highlighted the lines you want.

Take care.
Mike

I'm finding that the F8 keystroke works after all, but only so long as my PC
was only recently restarted. I guess it means more frequent rebooting.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to select a sentence in Word 2016 while using JAWS

Hi. Using Word 2010, I became dependent on the F8 key to select a sentence.
It doesn't work in 2016. At Google, I find a control-mouse click
instruction, but using the JAWS simulated mouse, it doesn't work. Has anyone
found an alternative keyboard command buried in Word 2016 for this
operation?
