Hi Adrian,

After pressing CTRL+T to open a new tab, press INSERT+A (INSERT even on laptop
keyboard layout) to check the address bar. If it reads about:newtab, it is
likely that JAWS turned virtual cursor on even when focus is on the address
bar, so press SHIFT+TAB and then TAB again to see if focus is properly set to
the address bar.
If the address bar have another URL, a program on your computer changed Firefox
(and probably other browsers as well) settings such as new tab URL, home page
and default search engine to show you ads. In this case, you should delete any
unwanted toolbar or other extensions and then reset these Firefox settings.

Hope it helps!

Thanks, Jim. That's the answer to the question I asked. But now, when I open a
new tab, instead of getting just a edit field for the URL, I get a lot of
information through which I need to arrow up and down. Is that your experience,
too?

Hi, Adrian. Control + N should open a new Window. Control T opens a new tab.
Using ESL, latest version of Firefox.
